Haley Johnson, DVM Associate Veterinarian - Day Practice

Dr. Johnson knew she wanted to be a veterinarian from the time she was a little girl. As she grew up in the small town of Rome, Georgia, her desire to become a veterinarian also continued to grow. She completed her undergraduate degree at Berry College in Rome in 2008. She then went on to complete her degree in veterinary medicine at the University of Tennessee in 2012. From 2012-2013, Dr. Johnson did a rotating internship at Coral Springs Animal Hospital. She then remained there as an emergency veterinarian until 2015, when she decided to move north and join our team here at Veterinary Medical Center.

Dr. Johnson's professional interests include preventive care, internal medicine, and integrative medicine. You may see Dr. Johnson and her husband Francisco out surfing at the jetty in Fort Pierce or on their sailboat. They also enjoy traveling as often as they can. Tracey Decter, DVM Associate Veterinarian - Emergency

Dr. Decter is a Jersey girl at heart. She was raised in northern New Jersey, attended college at the University of Maryland, and after graduation worked as a veterinary technician for a few years before attending Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. After two and a half wonderfully warm years on St. Kitts, Dr. Decter spent her final year of veterinary school at Louisiana State University before moving to Columbus, Ohio to begin her career as a veterinarian. Relief work took her to Pittsburgh, PA where she discovered that her professional interest and passion lay in emergency medicine and surgery.

After seven years, Dr. Decter had had enough of the cold, gray Pittsburgh winters. During a visit to Florida, she stumbled across the Veterinary Medical Center of St. Lucie County and it was love at first sight. A year later, she made the move to sunny Florida and never looked back.

Dr. Decter enjoys swimming, cooking, and baking. She travels when she can and takes in lectures, concerts, and theater performances. Special skills, you ask? Dr. Decter can perform Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” dance and plays guitar.

Meagan Loew, DVM Associate Veterinarian - Emergency

Dr. Meg Loew grew up locally in Martin County. She realized at eight years old that she wanted to be a veterinarian after caring for a sick family cat. She attended the University of Central Florida for her undergraduate studies, majoring in biology and earning a minor in music. While there, she also obtained technician experience in both small animal and equine medicine.

Dr. Loew attended the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine for her veterinary education. It was during this time that she developed a passion for emergency medicine and dermatology. After graduation, she practiced general small animal medicine locally for two years prior to joining our team.

Dr. Loew is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Florida Veterinary Medical Association, and the Treasure Coast Veterinary Medical Association. She has four rescue pets: two Siamese cats named Mama Rubi and Little Man, and two Pomeranians named Boo and Tibby. Stuart George, DVM Associate Veterinarian - Emergency

Dr. Stuart George is a proud graduate of Oklahoma State College of Veterinary Medicine. Growing up on a ranch, he was influenced by his father as a positive role-model and became interested in medicine from helping the veterinarian that came out to tend to the livestock on his farm.

As a veterinarian, Dr. George considers himself the medical advocate for pets. He goes by the principle of what would be best for the pet. He enjoys addressing client’s primary concerns and educating them on their pet’s needs, especially in preventative medicine.

Dr. George enjoys biking, hiking, and camping and as a teenager and in college he participated in rodeos. He still enjoys tending his livestock and horse, and at home has dogs and cats. His large family keeps him entertained with 5 children, 14 grandchildren, and about 1,000 nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Chris Lapsley, DVM Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Chris Lapsley attended Penn State University for his undergraduate training in Animal Bioscience and received his Master’s degree from City College of New York. He spent two years teaching high school science in New York City before attending veterinary school at the University of Pennsylvania. After graduation he completed a year long rotating internship at Hollywood Animal Hospital in Hollywood, FL and stayed in Florida to practice medicine as a general practice and emergency veterinarian.

Dr. Lapsley’s drive to become a veterinarian came as a teenager after his house had a fire. He had to board his dog for 6 months at a veterinary facility and while spending time visiting his dog he got to know the veterinary profession. One of the most important things he considers about his job is client education and helping them understand their pet’s condition and treatment. As a veterinarian he also especially enjoys performing surgery and wound management.

In his free time he likes to fantasize about using the gym in his garage but doesn’t typically make it out there. He enjoys woodworking, does excellent dinosaur impressions for his three kids and is still waiting to be drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles. He has a wonderful wife who, for some reason, continues to support him in all he does, and two dogs who are his greatest admirers.
